What is Child First?

Child First is the collaborative name for the 3 Local Delivery Groups (LDG) of Schools in Colchester.The group first emerged out of the desire of Head Teachers in East Colchester, who wanted to improve the life chances for the children in their schools. With the arrival of the Extended Schools Agenda, it was a natural progression to extend the group to include all schools in Colchester.

The aim of this website is to inform and support all members of each LDG, both within schools and in the extended community.

Extended Schools Provision is being developed across the country within the framework of Every Child Matters and is one of a number of strands which is evolving in Colchester in response to the Children and Young People’s Agenda.
