Aiming High for Disabled Children
|
|
Aiming High for Disabled Children is about helping children and young people with disabilities and their families get the support and chances they need to live ordinary lives. The government allocated significant new funding because it wanted to ensure that families have their support needs met.
The opportunities for families include:
Parent participation in service design
Short breaks
Disabled Children's Access to Childcare
Provision of community equipment and wheelchairs to increase participation
Transition Support
Aiming High has significantly increased the capacity and range of short break opportunities for children, young people and their families. Aiming High is not only about short breaks. In response to the needs that families have identified, Aiming High also focused on the availability of information about: universial as well as specialist services; the services provided by the voluntary and independant sectors; health and local authority children services; and transition support. |
