Behaviour Support (Primary)

Summary of Service Offered 

Area Team Leader/Behaviour Support Teachers/Behaviour Support Workers and Home School Liaison Workers within the East Team supporting mainstream Primary Schools’ Staff in managing pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Support can include:

1. Whole School Behaviour Management - Policy and Practice

2. Anti-Bullying theory and practice and Support Group Approach 'Creating Telling School'

3. Organising Friendship Days

4. Smart Thinking - Thinking Skills Programme

5. Mid-Day Assistant and Teacher Assistant/Learning Mentor Training

6. Improving playtimes and Play Leader Training

7. Facilitation Training for staff - how to facilitate groups

8. Support for Parents/Carers

    a. Workshops for family support regarding behaviour

    b. Individual carer/parent support to complement school management plan for child

9. Telephone Helplines: Teacher and Parent Helplines

    a. Teacher Helpline: All week Mon-Fri on 01206 711188

    b. Parent Helpline: Thursday 11.30am - 1pm only on 01206 711188

 

Referral Procedures (if relevant)

School can request

1. Whole School Support-Advice, consultancy/training

2. Whole class-behaviour management

3. Individual support for a pupil We ask schools to attach relevant documents concerning a 'referred' pupil to the Request Form. The Area Team Leader looks at all requests on a fortnightly basis.

Summary of Service Offered 

Behavour Support work with 19 Secondary Schools across East Essex offering support to staff and students related to behavioural issues. Statutory work is delivered for youngsters with a statement of SEN for behaviour.  A menu of support for training opportunties is available for schools to prioritise.  There is also off site provision for KS3 youngsters at risk of permanent exclusion.

 Referral Procedures (if relevant)

Behaviour Support Tutors work in Schools on a weekly basis.  Referrals for casework come through the link teacher in School.  Off site placements are presented to an admission panel twice per year.  These are planned interventions and agreed between the School, Behaviour Support and Parent/carer.
