In the Budget on Wednesday 24 March 2010 key announcements for individual taxpayers, tax credits and child benefit claimants were announced, one of which relates to the payment of childcare costs. Since April 2010 awards for fixed period childcare costs (such as claims for a few weeks during the school holidays) will be averaged and paid over that fixed period rather than averaged over a year. This will enable families to receive the financial assistance in the weeks they need it rather than it being spread over the year. Customers need to contact the tax credit helpline 0845 300 3900 in order to work out their costs.
